Been crickets in here since opener. I am embarrassed to say I haven’t been out yet. Maybe this week.
    Anything happening out there?

Mike, Fish are being caught out there. I fished opening weekend Sat and Sun. 3 of us kept 8 fish on Sat and 2 of us kept 4 on Sunday. I release my biggest walleye on the Croix on Sunday (it was between 27 and 28 inches). I fished the Hamm Room on Sat May 9th with my brother. We kept 11 fish. We finished in 4th place with 15.3 lbs (weighed 6 fish). First place was over 17lbs.

My 4th time out this year was Sat morning. I only fished until 10:30. My buddies had kept 3 fish when they dropped me off. They kept 3 more fish after they dropped me off. Best bait for me has been crawlers. The bite in the Hudson channel was good a couple weeks ago but was slower on Saturday.

The Walleye League starts tomorrow night. It will be interesting to see if the fish cooperate after this weather change.

I was out for a number of hours all weekend. weather was threatening so it kept the cruiser and bikini hatch way down. I caught some nice largemouth in flooded timber. one 17″ beast that really surprised me. they seem to have a solid hold in that water now and will continue to multiply. I actually ran into a batch of white bass that were bustin minnows up against a sand bar on Sunday morning. caught a number of those and then they moved on. haven’t had the chance to do that in years as other folks have mentioned. yesterday the water seemed to be still rising so I dragged some leeches in shallower water adjacent to current. I got one real nice 17″ walleye, couple smallies and some sheepers. good weekend really. not by any means a “hot” bite but some good action

I’m trying to talk myself into going today in the rain. Even bought some crawlers to force my hand. Not sure yet…

Mike, If you went fishing tonight I hope you had good rain gear and your crawlers were in worm bedding and not black dirt. grin

After staring outside for an hour I bailed. I think today will be the day.

Made it out for a little while. My reverse wasn’t working so I didn’t want to stay out late. 2 short eyes and a tiny bass on crawlers. Very busy last night. I have less tolerance for all the pleasure boaters every year.
