The walleye bite is slow by Winnie standards, but it’s still pretty good. Water temps are 50-54. Although we caught fish from 4 to 24 feet most of our fish came from 13 to 15 feet. I’m guessing the recent drop in water temperature really had those shallow fish tightlipped, so we just kept working deeper until we found active fish on the offshore humps. Jigging with Spottail shiners and rigging a leech both produced equally. We caught fish of all sizes and with the new slot had no problem getting fish for a fish fry. There were a good number of fish over the protected slot as well. The lake is full of jumbo perch and northerns to keep the rods bending as well.

I’m not sure. Most of the KenKatch jigs were sold out at Fred’s in Deer River, so I grabbed these. Nice paint jobs and sharp hooks. I tied on a chart/green and never had a reason to change. My Dad went through a half dozen colors and caught a few on each.

Those are very nice Walleyes anywhere but especially for Winnie. Well done!
