I took advantage of the nice weather last week and tried to pin down where the crappies are before ice up. After scouting for a while, I found what looked like a decent school of crappies in 22′ in the back of a bay. After sending a jig/minnow down, I realized they were mostly walleyes. Most were small, but there were a few 15 – 18″ mixed in. After an hour or so, some crappies showed up, not many, but the ones that were there were nice (11 – 13″). One notable point from the trip was the light bite. I’m not a big fan of stingers, but they made the difference that day.
Check out the improvised fillet table!!!!
