Can’t find good info online, what you guys think…

35# transom trolling motor, need battery. Have wires going up to front battery spot for it.

Bought last year a deep cycle from fleet farm, want to say group 22or 24, but has been used for starting the 25hp. Also runs the 597 which sucks a lot, as well as nav. lights, bilge, aerotor, all used seldomly, except the lights.

Do I move the deep up front for trolling, and get new dual purpose for the starter/access. Or get another deep cycle BC the 25 HP doesn’t require much cranking juice, and deep covers it fine.

Many arguments on how dual purpose doesnt do either that well, and small motors don’t require starter batts. Couldn’t find the specs on the motors cold crank amps.

FYI looking back at the archives always a hoot when ol BBK vs everyone else arguments began )

Get the biggest group size you can in a deep cycle. That 25hp does not require many cranking amps. I have started my 60hp Yammi on a 29 deep cycle just fine for 3 years now.

A group 24 or 22 isn’t much, I would leave it for the motor and buy a group 27 or 30.I have a 74volt trolling motor and run 2 max30 and I have a 150HP Merc XR6 a HDS7,8 AND LMS520C,i also I run a recerc and livewell pumps w a new MAX30 with out any troubles [low voltage]during a 8 hour tournament the starter battery, was a grp27 interstate that was used 3 seasons, then started too have issues with the LMS shutting off when I started the big motor.

Bigger is better. Up size the trolling motor to a 27 interstate battery. You won’t be disappointed.
