The bite should get better. The river should clear up and with the weather forecast it should warm up.

x2. I’ve always felt we are lucky to catch the start of the best bite at the end of the season. Also, as far as the Little Fork breaking loose, it sounds like there’s very little flow so unless there was a big blockage some where upstream, I wouldn’t think it’d shut the bite down as much as a regular high flow year. Hopefully it flushes quick and this weekend is good for anyone heading up!

Last weekend we seen the little and big fork were open as far as the eye could see.
Noticed dirty water but no debris.
We figured it was due to low water levels

Went up yesterday morning. On river fishing by 8am. Landed at vidas. Water very dirty compared to last weekend. Big chunks of dirty ice floating down river. Left there about 12:30. 0 fish 0 bites. Never seen a fish caught. Water temp was 38.5 last Saturday, 34.5 this trip. Talked to guy from Little Fork at landing. He said LF river just opened up day before. We headed to Wheelers. Fished for 2.5 hrs caught 6 smaller than 14” out in/passed the gap. We were supposed to stay the night but With the wind expected and the terrible bite we headed home. Sorry. I should have posted this last night to help save anybody the trip today.

Water is dirty and fishing is very tough. Lake bite over river.

What a difference a day makes. Yesterday in the cold, wind, and rain we did very well. Boated lots of fish with 2 28s, a 27, a 26 and pretty steady jig/rainbow bite all day. River had cleared a bit and current seams were the ticket. Today, high pressure and high sun completely shut the bite down. The river muddied up again from the rain and places we fished yesterday had a noticeable uptick in current. Ran out to lake and NW winds have pushed ice pack to be a few hundred yards from pine. It’s a grind out there right now.
