Is it better to let them refreeze clean or would putting some snow in them make any difference?

My light flite re opens holes easily so it doesn’t matter I guess. If you pack them you should be good as well if you can refind them

Right now, none of the holes are refreezing on my local waters. Are asking if an open hole or a slush filled hole makes any difference to the fish? Or are you asking if it makes a difference when reopening the hole?

Re-opening the holes. I have an Ion Auger. I have a distinctive four-hole pattern; one for the camera, one for the Vex, and two to fish out of. Mobility is not my game.

I would think filling them with slush would be a bad idea for someone using a shaving style bit vs a chipper.

I have a Kdrill and have no problems at all reopening old holes.

Do you commonly kick slush in the holes and reopen them? Way different to reopen something if it froze naturally vs kicking it full of slush and letting it freeze IMO.

Never have had issues redrilling with my ion. I’ve also never filled a hole in on purpose, only to reopen the next day. Best of luck!

I don’t kick slush back in the holes and then try to reopen. Never tried that I guess. I just reopen old frozen ones. I guess I didn’t need to mention I have a Kdrill as I don’t think that matters although I’ve heard some people have better luck reopening holes with some augers vs others. I do however believe the auger will tell you whether it likes it or not when trying to reopen a hole. You’ll be able to tell if it backlashes on you or not. I’ve just never had that problem with mine. I would think filling it back in with slush and letting it freeze would be even easier to reopen it. I’ll have to experiment next time out.

My 2 Ions, and now Pistol Bit, are great at reopening holes.
