My wife and I just bought a home made drop down ice house frame, we are going to build it the way we want this summer, it’s 6ft x 8ft by 6ft tall. My question is what should we use for the exterior skin?

Ed, this is a good site for building a house but ice fishing part is not very well watched until about mid summer. I used steel but wouldn’t recommend it unless you or a good friend is in the business. 90% of the guys here use aluminum sheeting. There will be lots of places to buy it in the threads when you search, I think it was about $55/sheet around here last year. Hot Spot Outdoors is probably the best site for fish house building. This is 100% better site for everything else.

Ed, did you already build the house 6 ft tall? If not that’s going to be pretty short.

The frame is already made,we are building on it. I was thinking about using something like an underlayment then putting the plastic paneling they use in milk houses.

You said 6 ft tall, is that frame built too or just the trailer part?

    That’s the frame.

I used .040 aluminum sheets. The white came in 5×10 sheets. There is also colored sheet, but it a lot more expensive so I went with white and I’m going to add diamond plate and a few decals this summer to break it up a little.
