I have a brisket, small red potatoes, baby carrots. Any guesses as to how long they would need to be in a crock pot on low temp to cook everything? I intend to toss everything together unless told thats a bad idea.

    Thanks

Sorry Dutch never done one in a crock pot but I would guess 3-4 hours to get real tender.

I toss everything in & set it on high overnight, at least 12hrs, then down to low & let it go all day. I freeze small containers of the liquid for au jus & dunk toasted roast beef & Swiss samiches in it waytogo

If it’s like my crock pot it’ll take an hour just to get hot. Our beef roasts will never be tender in less then eight hours , but I have terrible luck with a crock pot . Now an instant pot ? Now your talking super tender in a hour and half .

My brisket is already sliced if that makes a difference. Also should I thaw everything before putting it in the pot or toss it in frozen and add potatoes & carrots once it’s unfrozen?

When I do my small brisket, I add onion carrots and baby reds plus chunks of red and green peppers. Put on low for 12 hours and they always turn out great. Half of stick of butter helps is as well.

Just take a fork and every time you walk by just take a bite. That’s what I do with crock pot cooking. Eventually I sit down and eat a meal. Sometimes it’s two hours sometimes it two days. whistling

Chuck eye is what I use, a couple 3/4lb pieces. Doctor up your herbs & seasonings & use a can of mater paste, beef stock & beef bullion. For me, I can’t get enough carrots, 40% of its total.

The same amount of time it takes to cook lobster tails in a crackpot.
Brisket should never see the inside of a crock pot. IMO

As I used to agree with this. The lady did it one day with out me knowing. And it was amazing

Used a crockpot for years, low over night or longer.

The instant pot is my new replacement. I make a beef roast with potatoes, carrots etc. in 45 minutes. The meat just falls apart! No more crockpots.

Corned Beef is cured brisket. Start it in the morning and it is done by dinner. This sounds like the very same thing as corned beef and cabbage but just using a regular brisket.

I’ll pop it in the crock pot Wednesday night and either have that or a TV dinner Thursday. grin

If it’s sliced, isn’t it cooked already?

Dutch, it sounds like you are going for a pot roast or stew of sorts. I would add a can of beef broth and some seasonings or a dry packet of pot roast season from the store.

It feels wrong to use anything other than a smoker but it’s a commitment going that route!
I’ve done corned beef that in a c.p. that was plenty delish.

I was also giving Dutchy a little crap.

Pulled it out of the freezer this morning and it is pre-sliced pre-cooked. Maybe I’ll just warm it up dump some BBQ sauce on it and call it good. I have some baby red potatoes and baby carrots I’ll dump in the crock pot.

Thanks for the help and ideas.

    Happy Thanksgiving.
