Question for Helix G2N Owners

I’m contemplating buying a Helix 9 CHIRP, DI and have a question that I’m hoping one of you can answer before I pull the trigger. When I played with the display model at the store I couldn’t get the sonar screen to zoom when in split screen with chart view. The chart side zoomed when hitting the +/- buttons but doing the same on the sonar active screen seemed to only adjust sensitivity or contrast. Can anyone tell me if the sonar page will zoom from this screen view and how to do it?

    TIA

You didn’t give me much credit for not reading the manual first.

well,I was going to answer your question but I would of had to read it first myself.
by the time I got that done Mille lacs would be back to normal, there would be no climate change, and my bones would be fossilized by then, sigh. hah

I have the helix 10 mega si g2n and when I’m in 3 panels and I choose active panel with the side imaging it lets me zoom in and move cursor. It also lets me if I have it on down image. It won’t let you zoom in on 2d though but don’t need to zoom in on anything on 2d anyway.

Why don’t you need to zoom in on 2d? There is a 2d X 2d view that does let you zoom but not a combination with gps. Can you make your own custom screen views with the helix?

Yes you can. If you wanted your 2d zoomed in or any of the other various 2d versions you would have to go to the 2d only screen change settings to what you want it to be then it will be that way when you have the screens tiled.

I’ve done some more research and hands on playing. It appears that the only way to zoom the sonar pane in the sonar / GPS combo screen is to reduce the upper and lower range. It isn’t my ideal but acceptable I guess with a 9″ screen.

    Yes you are correct.

If it is important. I would suggest making the zoomed 2d a quick button… Or at least figure out which which quick button is closest to the zoom view for quick access.

You’ll get used to the view order, and of course since you read the ins. you already know how to hide views you never use.
