Question for early model MX Owners – Auto Bilge and when it kicks on?

I should know this and I could probably go find my manual and look it up, but the MX1825’s have an Auto-bilge right? (they have to?) Does anybody know how much water needs to be in the boat/battery area before it kicks on? I leave my MX1825 covered on a lift at my cabin and if we don’t get up for awhile the amount of water the bilge pumps out gets to be alot (emptied by me manually flipping the bilge switch on)

i’m just wondering if my auto-bilge isn’t working anymore? (is there a simple way to test it other than filling my boat full of water and seeing if it kicks on by itself?)

I will start by saying I don’t know if your boat has an auto bilge or not. One would think it would or at the very least just one bilge pump with an auto float switch. One reason an auto bilge may not come on while on your lift would be if it tilts forward a bit while on the lift causing the water to run forward, but if that were the case as it is lowered into the water the pump should turn on as the water rushes back. My guess either you don’t have an auto pump, it doesn’t work, or it isn’t wired directly to the battery so if you have a master switch shut off it won’t come on.

By memory they all had auto plus a manual bilge. Typically, an inch or so of water trip the float switch. Pretty common for trash to float the switch up running continuous causing it to burn out… They were normally wired direct to the battery.

If the boat is up on a lift, it would seem that pulling the drain plug would eliminate any build up of rain water while on the lift.

I have a 2012 mx and it has an auto and manual bilge pump. I have to be careful trailing if I leave it out in a rain. As I accelerate the water must rush to back and trigger the auto pump and it blows it out the side pretty far. Almost drenched some walkers the first time it happened more careful now. It is wired direct to battery.

that would be great but then it requires me to go swimming everytime to put the plug back in, I dont trust those self draining automatic plugs…

Assuming this is the main bilge and then the auto-switch float next to it?

Looks like alot of fun to get it out….

No walkway that would give you access?

Go fishing without the plug and you will find out. jester

Before replacing I would clean out the float area. If it relatively flat lift you would be surprise how much water can hold before that auto pump comes on.

You should be able to lift the float to test and see if it activates the pump.
My 1825 has an auto and a manual bilge pump. The auto kicked in 2 weeks ago when fishing in the rain.

It would seem you can find out if auto working when you know there is water in there before using the manual bilge take boat out and tilt bow up and accelerate. Water will run back like when I trailer and water should start shooting out the side. If not auto not working.

anybody happen to know the Make and Model # of the auto bilge pump? I’d like to get the same one so I can utilize the bracket already installed…
