Are the trails on public lands designed for a slow enjoyable ride or are they just race tracks? I have heard on some snowmobile trails you need to keep going pretty good or get run over. Seems a lot of guys like to run hard. Curious how people generally ride their ATV’s and Snowmobiles.

I used do a lot of trail sledding in Iron County N WI. That region is quite popular for “snowmobile community”.

My first go was with a 340 Puma 2-up. After the first trip I found I was getting dusted off to the side, was kind of pathetic.

I quickly got up to speed with a ZR 600 and rode it hard and fast. (I was a younger jock back then) crazy

Those were some wild rides back then.

Not sure where you’re thinking, or how folks ride on the trails now.

Could be fine, there was plenty of safe riders…although most all I remember was it was dominated by younger testosterone filled, worse yet alcohol fueled young dudes. eek

Like anything else there are some with no respect for others. There’s a certain anonymity to sledding. Disguising gear, mobility and mob mentality. Not all that unlike internet tough guys. It usually boils down to Lack of character and sometimes inexperience. I’ve always said those types will eventually make me quit the sport.
My wife and I don’t ride slow but we always ride with others safety in mind.
