Question about spring bobbers

Help me out here: What is the point of a spring bobber on a high-end super-sensitive rod? I love a sensitive rod, but if it is real sensitive you can feel the bite, no? And if you are using a spring bobber, you are watching not feeling. See what I mean?

Thorne bro trip wire is the way to go. And yes if you are a visual rather than feel fisherman, this will help you catch more fish. If you don’t want a spring bobber, a noodle rod is best. I personally prefer the dh aldente. I am no way get anything from making this comment, yet it’s just my preference. In fact I don’t even own rods made by DH. I make my own, just using his blanks.

I’m just guessing here but one could be just trying to get the best of both world’s with that combination, super sensitivity and the visual detection. I myself love a good “feel” rod but I have to put a spring on it, it’s just what I am used to, it’s just a complete mind problem. I’ve tried going without a spring before and still ended up placing a spring bobber on the rods. So for some who are like me they just have to have that spring on the end. You raise a very valid point though, no doubt. Some of us are just weird like that I guess.

St Croix spring bobber on whatever cheapo rod you want.
You can buy the replacement springs, add a grommet and add eyelet and your good to go.

Love my spring bobbers! Not only are they strike indicators, (both down and up bites), but I use the spring to work my lures in what I call a wabble that I just cannot duplicate with a rod tip.
Also I fish shallow water with light lures. So light they just cannot load even a noodle rod tip the way they can a spring.

I bought those spring bobbers on sale at the end of last year. Haven’t completed the project yet or bought the rest of the supplies, but I’ve had these instructions copied off an ido thread in my wallet since last time we had ice.

My favorite spring bobber without a doubt, just not as big of a fan of the rod selection that they come with.

You found my instructions. I really like the St. Croix clone spring bobbers, so adjustable for different weight jigs. I want to try a Trip Wire spring bobber just to see well they work.

I use the spring bobber for very small jigs, it gives me the ability to see the super light up bites of Crappies. Very similar to how a lot of guys are line watchers, but my eyes are getting to bad for watching ultra light line.

FYI #8 guide isn’t necessarily always correct. I bought size 8 pac bay minima guides since that is what st.croix actually uses and it was too big. If using a size 8 guide, you have to have one with a thick insert inside.

I use nothing but HT Enterprises spring bobbers on my rigs. They are long and ultra sensative for tiny lures.
