Question about Lakemaster Contour Elite

I was wondering if anybody in IDO land uses the Lakemaster Contour Elite software. Also do they still make and sell this product? It does look interesting to me. Maybe it’s sold under a new product name. I always thought it would be fun to look at all the info that it could give me to try and GPS the coordinates into my handheld to give them a try to see and learn many new fishing spots. If anybody is using this product I would like your your feedback positive or negative. Thank you.

I’ve had it for several years and use it a lot. I think it’s a very good tool.

Thanks Ron and Karry, I will look into this more and give the trial version a test. Do you guys use a handheld gps to mark waypoints from the program?

I load the way points onto my Humminbird 788ci and it works great. There is some leg work to do it. I have to load a program from Humminbird called Humminbird PC from there I can create a file that will load.

I have never tried to load it to any other GPS.

It is a good program but it is limited to only a number of larger lakes. High Def lakes that Lake Master surveyed.

The reason I ask about using a handheld is that I don’t own a Hummingbird unit to download waypoints and don’t plan on buying one for that purpose. The handheld I own is a Garmin and that is pretty limited right now. My smartphone is not that smart in order to download the Navionics lakemaps. I was just looking for another way to stay at home and look for a way to hunt for some good spots.

When I get home I will check what options are available for other units

You can always get the lat/long for the spots and input them into your device by hand. A little more work but not terrible.

You can use gps babel to convert hummingbird way point files to garmin.

If your Garmin will allow you to import the following Garmin files it should work.
    Garmin Mapsource .gdp
    Garmin Mapsource .mps
    Garmin points of interest.gpi
