Lots of work but it will be worth it on a cold winter day. I got fifteen pounds done today. Probably another twenty five pounds on the garage floor to do next weekend.

No just give it away to family and friends. I figured out today if I sold it for ten dollars a pound I would make about five dollars an hour! Lol

It’s the cooker I built to parch the rice. Lol

It a labor of love. There is a lot of rice this year! McGregor area is full with the low water levels. I watch the lady next to us harvest every year. She started with a kayak and has worked her way to a canoe. She does real well and mostly just loves utilizing the great outdoors! Looks like you have a great system to process on your own. Good luck and keep up the good work.

I’ve heard some mixed reports on rice this year. Rice feilds looking good but hearing grain production being off. Guess I’ll find out this weekend. We will be going up by Itasca.

That appears to be the case by everything I’ve heard and have seen. Looks from afar are deceiving.

The rice in front of my cabin looks good. The rails just moved back in.

Most rice I’ve been though this year was pretty sparse. I think the storms did it in pretty good.

Finally got around to trying out the grain mill I got for turning the broken rice into flower. I ended up with just under forty pounds of rice and seven pounds of broken rice. Now I need to figure out what to do with the flower? Was thinking it would make a good base for fish batter or maybe blueberry muffins. I’m looking for ideas or recipes if anyone has any!

Add it to pancakes and waffles? I’d take some to make some wild rice sourdough.

Sorry I edited my post while you were typing. I think it would make an incredible sourdough too. Some dried cranberries and cooked wild rice inclusions, wild rice four and rye flour.

I’m liking the idea of sourdough bread, that’s my favorite.
