one of those depth finder things that you put on the ice and shoot a beam down to see how deep. But i JUST HAD TO have it. No matter what i did, i could not get an accurate reading from it. I don’t even know where it is anymore. doah

    hah hah hah

that small flashlight looking Marcum locator was one of the best things I ever bought. It needs fairly clear ice and you need to use water on the ice. Great time saver.

When I was younger and had less disposable income, I bought an Arctic Shield 6X8 hub house on clearance at Fleet Farm. I still use it but it’s been a POS since day one. You have to be extra careful when folding it down as the hubs will get almost impossibly lodged under the poles from the other walls and it’s VERY difficult to get them unstuck. And a few poles popped out of their sockets within the first year or two. I only have time to ice fish a few times a year right now so I’ll continue nursing it until youth hockey is a thing of the past. Then I’ll actually have money to upgrade, as well!

mine wasn’t a marcum. can’t remember the brand. yeah, i used water on the ice. I even tried it in holes that i drilled. guessing my brand wasn’t very good quality. maybe user error. doesn’t matter, don’t use it anymore. lol

I will second the Marcum Recon camera. I’ve had mine back to Marcum twice for the blue screen issues. It seems the new ones are garbage as well. My dad bought a new Pursuit HD this winter and the LED’s didn’t work right out of the box. It went back to Scheels and was exchanged for an Aqua-vu.

2014 Polaris Sportsman 570 EPS I bought new. 2 batteries in first 2 months and the seat started on fire…Sold it within 6 months of ownership. Polaris covered the batteries but would not cover a seat and side panel replacement that burned. I knew it was a concern when the white side panels turned brown on the first ride…not until the 4th ride did it actually start on fire…

Uh, let’s not forget your attempt at “sexting” minnows,,,,,

    HRG

Attempt?? No one was ever disappointed in getting sexted minnows from me.

Moving on… guess the Worm Slicer went up a bit… $12.00

BTW true cat fishermen would never cut a worm…

Thorne Bros custom Loomis. I don’t even use it anymore. Like the croixs so much better. That rod is slow, unsensitive, and wouldn’t balance with a bulldozer on the handle. That’s about it for outdoor related gear…been content with everything else.

Yes I know my username is Loomis lol. Back when I was young and dumb lol.

Before hard cases were the rage I bought a homemade wood one that was too small for my rods, made out of cheap wood and enormously clunky. That was on me tho lol.

Chubby Darters are a money bait, that took me a bit to come around on. Jigging/Snapping Raps on the other hand, no thanks…

Without even clicking on the thread and reading comments the title made me think of my Recon 5+. Functionality-wise it works fine, sometimes the directional feature is off a little or takes awhile to catch up.

But for the most part I just don’t get that much use out of it. It can help to verify structure (man, that’s a lot of branches, don’t want to get snagged on them) or verify species (those are bass, no wonder they don’t want this presentation!) but I just don’t use it that much. I do plan on using it next week for what most people do, and that’ll be entertaining the kid.

Ive never dead sticked them, but sometimes those are the only things I can get fish to hit. Lots of times it brings fish in and then they hit the set rod too. They are probably one of my more used baits. Buckshots and rippin raps are up there too.

Related to chubby darters, I bought a pile of Lindy rattling darters because thye were stupid cheap and haven’t caught a single fish on any of them.

Honestly a Loomis IMX Pro spinning rod. Got it at a very very nice discount but it just didn’t fish like a $350 rod. I found myself reaching for my $99 SLX instead of it.

I was thankfuly able to flip it for the same price I bought it at, though.

x2 on the Loomis, I bought a E6x a couple years ago and I was disappointed that it was just OK. Not a bad rod at all but I prefer my Fenwick HMG that was half the price.

Hard to believe all the Loomis disappointment. I love both of mine, feel more vertical jigging than any other rod I have used before.

Yeah my G Loomis GLX is in another league compared to a Legend X. I think alot has to do with how you pair it with a reel and line. Stradic ci4 and 6 lb fireline.
