Alright, I know there are some of us that enjoy carving pumpkins, so let’s share.

We did ours last night. This was the first year our kids (8 and almost 6) have done the majority of their own carving (it usually ends up with me carving three pumpkins), and I am quite proud of them. Our 8-year old did the “cursed” one, and I think he did awesome. I transfered the design and helped with the “d”, but he did the rest on his own.

Those are awesome. I carve one every year and did it the day before last. I don’t usually carve a face that has a lot of rounded curves but obviously it worked out for you.

I always go with the same standard free hand carving. Looks ok with a candle inside. Always on Halloween so I can roast the seeds before handing out candy.

Those look great, Ryan! I LOVE the Nirvana smiley face one. (Big Nirvana fan here)! We didn’t carve any pumpkins this year but we did gather some from down at Kenny’s for pictures with the boys. )

Nice! I’ve done a pheasant or two over the years as well as a Spinone.

I LOVE the Nirvana smiley face one.

Thanks. I’m a Nirvana junkie, too. I was looking for something cool but fairly easy since I usually end up helping the kids quite a bit, too.

The kids wanted a fish and a boat.

Ben wanted his boat “bigger Dad”….so it goes half way around the pumpkin.

They both did a good job opening up the top and some of the cutting for the design. The best part was roasted seeds afterwards waytogo

We carved and put out pumpkins last night. This morning my wife opened the door to retrieve the newspaper and shrieked. An opossum was sitting on our front step gnawing on a pumpkin. It glanced at her with the “what are you looking at” look and continued eating.

It is pretty unusual to see an opossum in out neighborhood in Richfield.

A couple months ago the boys and I were watching Coast Guard rescue videos.

They both said, “Dad, we want to be Coast Guard for Halloween!”

So my wife sewed up some jackets from scratch and bought some patches mrgreen

Here’s a pic of Hank trying one on as she was making them

Cute! Anyone dressing up for work today? I’m wearing my cat ears and Halloween cat scarf. One of my coworkers is wearing a skull t-shirt, and another coworker is wearing a bright blue wig with a unicorn headband! Nothing too elaborate, but fun nonetheless!

Debated wearing my blue Care Bear onesie, but I figured a full grown man in a furry suit in a manufacturing facility is a little much…but tonight, it’s on. woot

It’s never complete without a meltdown. Or is it finished?

Apparently my pumpkin pics are shy. We’ll see if it works this time.

everyone is much more elaborate than us – does everyone just us the standard pumpkin carving kits or do any of you have use some “tricks” for carving? I have found those kits come with saws that are too flimsy and typically aren’t long enough for the thick pumpkins we end up buying…

I usually use a combo of the kits, knives, a drill, X-acto knives, and occasionally, a Dremel. If your pumpkins are too thick, scrape the inside more. I scrape the heck out of mine to make carving easier.

It was worn…in Downtown Hastings…there were photos…they will stay in the phone…

Maybe if there’s another ice GTG, it’ll come out.
