Well it’s getting to be about that time again… peace
I have a ritual of going thru all my gear and tackle making sure everything is up to snuf…

Each year I seem to have a different dominate crank so I always look into the crank box and
try and guess the top one right off the bat… with little success i might add whistling

I am a big believer in trying lots of baits throughout the day to find that bait that just tips the
    scales on hook ups…

    handline cranks

Well I must be getting excited because I feel this conversation was not really heading anywhere…

SO HOW DO YOU DECIDE WHAT TO HOOK UP FIRST ?wink

I start out with the proven producers for the given body of water. If not working I start mixing it up.

    Hi Koonce,
I usually start with anything shad colored, (black/silver) first.
Then move onto other natural colors (craw, orange, browns and blues before jumping to the chartruese, purples, clown, firetigers, etc… But there’s always exceptions to the rule.

On a side note, what does your typical transition from lead to mono/floro consist of? Just a small barrel swivel? I struggle with getting a good knot on the lead side. what does everyone tie in this spot?

Isn’t it somewhat early to start lead lining?

Whichever one isn’t tangled with other lures. When that ones in the water I’ll work on freeing up all the others I want to use.

    I think he’s referring to hand-lining.

one thing nice about pulling is two bait system. depending on water clarity I’m usually starting with orange and firetiger and once the sun gets overhead I’ll go more subtle colors. Bright sunny day I’ll always start with a clown on one line for sure.
