Upgrading to the improved ultera with Bluetooth heading sensor for tm. Best up by the tm, rear by transducer, somewhere else on my 1825? Thanks.

I mounted mine on the left rear gunnel on my MX1825. It works perfect on my Terrova.

The instructions specify a minimum distance from the trolling motor and away from any magnetic field. If in doubt, check the proposed location with an old-fashioned magnetic compass. Beyond that, anywhere the wires will reach your battery or fuse box will work.

I’m a little late here, but FWIW the minnkota heading sensor is nothing more than a compass, and does not need to be mounted in a specific location on the boat AS LONG AS it is not picking up any interference. If you mount a magnetic compass to the bow of the boat and one on the back of the boat and turn the boat in a circle, both compasses will read the same all through 360 degrees of rotation. It does have to be as close to level as possible though. A GPS heading sensor is a different story. You want this mounted as close to the back of the boat as possible so it is reading from the same location as the transducer. Anyway… just thought I’d add my .02 here. I’ve spent a lot of time bugging the minnkota and humminbird guys over the last couple years.

Thanks Aaron. After much research I put the heading sensor in the back of the boat. More stable than the bow which can effect the sensors reading.
