Proven technique for calling in fish

If you own a Buddy heater, you may know that you can easily cook delicious food such as ham and cheese sandwiches directly on your lil’ buddy right inside of your shelter.

As it turns out, the cooking meat and slowly melting cheese using this method produces a powerful and irresistible aroma that seeps directly into your fishing holes, and down into the surface of the water.

It starts slowly at first, but even if you have not marked a single fish the entire day, the Crappies and even the occasional Walleye will start to appear on your flasher just as your ham is starting to get crisp, with burnt edges, and perfectly melted cheese.

As your toasted sandwich buns with melted butter reach perfection, the fish will begin to arrive in greater numbers as the powerful aroma reaches its strongest state.

The number of fish on your flasher will peak dramatically just as you are assembling your ham sandwich with your hands, while simultaneously and furiously jigging two rods with your knees and elbows in a majestic display of multi-tasking.

At this stage you will get a nibble.

Carelessly throw your piping hot ham and cheese sandwich on the ice, and you will hopefully catch at least one of the fish appearing on your flasher. More than likely, you will not. But the fish were there.

At this point, you may pick up your cold, ice-soaked ham and cheese sandwich and wonder what may have been.

It’s a proven fact (science) pike love hot dogs. You don’t even gotta cook them.

Throw a pack down the hole and you’ll call in the snot rockets.

I’ve also encountered this. Hours without anything, as soon as I bust open that bag of delicious taco flavored Doritos and a hunk of beef jerky there goes a bite I missed. Every.single.time.

They also like the sound of pee hitting the ice. Make sure you have a dead stick down while peeing (not that dead stick, Beads) to ensure you miss that bite.

Shoot, it sounds like I have been cooking the wrong food. Should I be cooking pork products? I kind of want a ham sandwich now.

For me – same thing except it is when I go pee. Seems to happen with pheasants, deer, turkey, you name it. Once you get that in your hand……

I have reeled in countless walleye on Pool 2 while thinking I had time to pee during a trolling run. That increase in water temp really triggers fish too.

You will never see such a perfect display of birds landing in your spread until you’ve got your waders at your ankles, TP in hand…proven fact.

This I’ve experienced a hundred times. Same with taking a leak while deer hunting. I shot my buck this year with my fly down and junk hardly put back in its home

This is hilarious- replies got me in stitches rotflol

All jokes aside, it really does seem to be a common phenomena… The more you intensely stare at your graph the less likely a fish will show up. Get distracted/do something else, BOOM mark magically appears. And oh no no no, you can’t distract yourself on purpose to get around this.. no way. It has to be a totally natural sidetrack to actually work

You won’t miss the bite if you tie your fishing line to your leg when you go pee.

You have to click on the GIF to get it to work.

Ah yes, I will also concur that all of the above is a true phenomenon. I’ll add one more to ice fishing. When you shut the heater off and flip up the portable, guaranteed mark. Even if you haven’t had one for over an hour.

Usually having a phone conversation while holding your phone directly above the hole will trigger a strike. Which in turn, will trigger a violent upward motion followed by a flailing of both hands trying to retrieve said phone.
