But the thoughts and wishes of the fishermen have.

It was clear in the survey that people were in favor of more restrictive limits.

[/quote . IF ITS NOT BROKE DONT FIX IT.!! I was talking with the DNR guys out of the Lake City office just the other day. THIS YEARS WALLEYE/SUGAR SPAWN WAS OR IS ONE OF THE BEST EVER.!!! AN THAT IS WHAT the RIVER HAS GONE BY FOR THE PAST 60 PLUS YEARS OF YEAR AROUND FISHING. THATS WHAT GOVERNS THE WALLEYE/SUGAR POPULASIONS! THE SPAWN NOT THE FISHING PRESURE! If you think you can fish OUT the walleyes/sugars in pools 3 an 4.? LMAO.! In stead of governing the River by what every tom dick an harry thinks lets just let the DNR DO THERE JOB.!!! Ps. a short time ago Mr. BK himself told me that there are thousands an thousands an thousands more walleyes in the river system than there are Catfish. SO.?? . . RRR

Randy, your pools are different than ours. Or maybe not.

Why the arguement for a reduction in the limits? Will it harm the resource? I’m pretty sure it will not.

People will get use to it. Give it 3 months and everyone will adapt and things will be fine.

By the way the DNR is doing there job. This isn’t just a, lets, let the fishermen tell us how to set the limits.

Glad there was a good year class of walleyes this year. Tell us how that will affect the fishing if you have a reduction of 2 fish per day.

    So….

I voted for leaving the limits as they are for walleyes. They didn’t have an option to raise the limit. )

    Obviously, I/we were outnumbered.

down in the teen pools we have 6 fish 15-20 with 1 over 27. its been that way since 2003. i will say that in the last 5 years we have caught more slot fish than ever before and fishing has improved greatly. i believe the regulations have worked.

as for the 4 fish rule, it all depends on what posession is if there is no posession, 4 i think is good. that said, 2 19.5″ fish have more meat than 4 15″ fish.

If you were in-fact at meetings and in contact with involved people sharing your opinions…disregard the second paragraph

    Yonkers! Passive aggressive much? laugh
I took the survey but no I could not take the time to go to the meetings. Sorry that you feel the need to be disrespectful and to squelch another person thoughts. That’s pretty much the norm these days

I wonder if the powers that be have thought about the economic consequences of their new regulations. Pool 4 has been a regular destination in the Spring for many of the major tournament trails. These tournaments fill the hotels, restaurants and local businesses with money at a normally slow time of year. With the proposed regs I have to believe they will look elsewhere. Like RRR has stated—- Pool 4 has been fine for the last 60 years and it is the people who run it that have changed. People with the attitude of —why does anyone need more than 4 walleyes— that are worrying about what is in someone else’s livewell. There are people who pay good money to come to the area and fish a time or two a year and to gripe about them having 6 walleyes is pretty silly. Pool 4 is a unique and very special place and it is just fine with the regs we have.

..It will Not Effect the fishing at.!! It hasn’t effected the fishing for 60 plus years that is just the way the river works it takes care of its self. . So why cry the sky is falling when its not.?! If down the road there is congregate evidence that its that it hurting are fishery. Then do whatever it takes to fix what is broken. There is nothing broken now an the sky is not falling.!! So for those in favor of a 4 fish limit, then you can keep your 4 fish an go home or just catch an release after you have YOUR 4 fish limit. . An for those of you that say who needs more than 4 fish anyway. Well if I am having a fish fry for 8 or more people I will need more than 4. . So you keep 4 an who wants to keep 6 so be it. . RRR

That makes no sense at all. Lets wait until we run out of oil in the car also and when its broke then we’ll worry about it. It’s alright to be a little pro active.

With all the hollering you are doing I’d be surprised if you had 8 people who would want to come over for a fish fry.

They’ll take care of the limits I’ll be fine with it either way. The majority are in favor of changing it and I am sure they will do the right thing and listen to the majority.

White Bass! I feel the White Bass is a gate way fish to hook kids into fishing. They are every bit as sporting as smallies and eat great. I can’t tell you the amount of customers I have had on guide trips that tell stories about catching white bass as kids. They tell the stories with pure joy in their voices.

The 25 fish limit that is current is way too high. I strongly support the 10 fish limit.

I ‘d love to see these regulation changes on the St. Croix River!

! The Major governing factor of the population of walleye/sugars is the SPAWN Good Spawn Bad spawn Awesome spawn Very very poor spawn an every thing in between spawns. That is the major thing for the up an down population of these fish.! NOT the Fishing pressure. The general walleye sugar population has not changed in the last 60 plus yrs.!! . RRR

    Randy Randy Randy!

    X100

I did not go to meeting yesterday, I casted jigs instead.
I typed probably 2 pages in comment section of survey, many of which regarded the dnr’s studies of spawn success and year classes. Let that be the reasoning behind limits and not opinions of the fair weather fisherman.

Last three weekends I’ve treated deer camp with fresh walleye (6 fish)… I told them they better bring more sides next year because keyboard biologists and reducing the limits! Argh.

Thus is my opinion, formed from dnr facts.
