I have an older 100 pound propane tank. Is there anywhere around the metro that will install a newer style valve?

I don’t know the rosemount area but if you can track down who supplies propane to local residential and farmers like ferrel gas or lakes gas more than likely will replace valve and certify the tank. I had a small local company do this for me with my old tank. I believ with new valve and certification cost was $28 fill was extra ofcourse.

Ferril gas, amerigas, both i would think can do it. One of them is just off hwy 52 by the refinery. Very near the scrap yard down there.

I’m looking to refill a #35 tank in Hudson/River Falls area.

Google doesn’t seem to be my friend today.

Bk, Mikes standard in Hudson by goodwill and BP gas station next to truck stop. BP may give discount if your a hunter. best price tractor supply in prescot but the drive may nagate the savings 15 miles to tractor supply by way of minnestoa side from SCB.

    This ^^^.

But it’s not just a matter of installing a new valve. It has to be inspected and pressure tested / “requalified”.

Be worth a try on a bigger tank like this.

As of April 1, 2002, OPDs are required on all propane cylinders between 4 and 40 pounds propane capacity, per the 1998 edition of NFPA 58, Liquefied Petroleum Gas Code. Cylinders of this size manufactured after September 30, 1998, were required to have an OPD. A typical gas grill cylinder holds about 20 pounds of propane.

    100# tanks are exempt.

100# tanks are not exempt from requalification 12 years after manufacture date. On an older tank best pay the $28 for new valve and certification. Best do it now so don’t get declined waisting a trip or worst out a tank untill certified.
