Propane Auger

  • #1727642

    Hey guys-

Thinking about pulling the trigger on a propane auger. Looking specifically at the Eskimo’s. Nothing against the Jiffy’s but my research keeps pointing me the way of the Eskimo. Just wondering if anyone has the Hc40 and what they thought of it? I see that Eskimo has a new model out this year, and wondering if any of the prostaff guys have had a chance to take out the P1 and what they thought of it?

I have a friend with an HC40 and he absolutely loves it, zero issues. I have a Pro4 lite and it only gets used maybe once a year…

I bought my HC40 3 years ago. At that time everything was pointing me away from the Jiffy also. I love it. It has been sitting all summer and started with the second pull this weekend. I let a buddy use it one day and he sold off his gas and bought one. I would recommend the Eskimo HC40 to anyone, zero problems. What I was told by a rep was that the HC40 was designed as a propane engine and the jiffy is more of a gas engine converted to propane. But that might have been his sales pitch.

I have the Eskimo Propane and absolutely love it. I will never go back to gas. Starts up every time in 1 or 2 pulls. You’ll here people say that the propane will freeze. No it doesn’t. I’ve been in some pretty nasty weather and it never froze on me.

Propane is nice, I had the Jiffy Pro 4 for a couple years, very heavy, replaced the propane line due to it splitting (I took all of the steps to keep it from breaking). I would not recommend.

I actually went to the ION X and Love it! Cuts easy, very light weight, rechargeable battery with plenty of power.

Sounds like the Eskimo is getting some good marks on here. I just wouldn’t go back to Jiffy.

For what its worth I sold my jiffy gas three years ago and went to the jiffy propane, have had no issues with it what so ever even when in the Dakota’s in -25. Changed the oil last night and it started on second pull.

If you like to pull start your auger more than once To get it started, then don’t get a Jiffy.
    I absolutely love my Jiffy

Costco had some version of Eskimo propane auger for $350 iirc.

Ion with 2 batteries and the 8” KDrill. Love it, zero fumes, the only thing you pull is the trigger. I was hesitant to move away from gas, but after carpal tunnel surgery the recoil was too much after surgery. I bought the Ion and have never looked back.

For what it’s worth I’ve loved my jiffy pro 4 lite for the last 2 years I’ve had it, never been under powered or broken down and seems to cut fast and easy.

Got one of the first Jiffy pro4’s. Had to get a new hose assembly for it 2 years ago. Other than that it has been great.
