Prop question

I recently bought a Lund 1675 explorer . It has a 90 HP 4 stroke Merc. The prop is 17 pitch mercury black max. It will shoot out of the hole but once on plane turns a lot of RPMs and moves fairly slow.
Just wondered what prop you are running on a similar setup?

With that combo, I’d be willing to bet that a 19p spitfire would give you better top end speed without reducing your hole shot at all.

I know of a few 16′ boats with 90 mercs that run very well with that prop.

    I have a 15″ 17 pitch quicksilver on a 16′ lund pro sport with a 2 stroke 75hp.
very good power out of the hole and 41 mph. I would not change a thing.

Are all the Spitfire props 4 blade?

They are, but are slightly smaller diameter than your black max, allowing for higher rpm and more top end speed. You can expect about the same rpm out of a 19p spitfire as a 17 black max

What top rpm are you running and whats your speed? Is it at full trim? Where is your motor set for height? Is the Cav plate under water or skimming the surface? I ask these questions because nobody here can help you without the particulars.
