I have a 115 merc optimax on my boat it currently has a 31317 stainless prop i would like to get a spare and i found a used 31417 alum whats the difference if any?

My guess is that the diameter is different. One is 13 inch dia. and the other is 14 inch dia. Both are a 17 inch pitch.
November 13, 2015 at 2:55 pm #1577067are you referring to a 3-blade, 13″ diameter x 17″ pitch, vs a 3-blade, 14″ diameter x 17″ pitch?
The 14″ diameter might be a problem, as though are normally used on the larger, V6-class gearcases. Your 115 Opti normally runs props closer to 13 to 13-1/4″ diameter.
Do you have the exact part numbers off the props?
