    Hey guys and gals,
Looking for some input on a different prop for my new to me rig.
2016 620 Fs with kicker is the setup.
Currently has a 3 Blade 21p x 15 Saltwater Series on it and it is a dog out of the hole with 3 guys and full livewell and gas tank.
I don’t care if I lose some on the top side, but I need to fix the hole shot.

Sounds like a 19 rev4 may be an option but I am open to suggestions.

    Thanks! waytogo

I’ve found that unfortunately that’s just the way Yamahas are. Very reliable but gutless.

What’s the top RPM your getting when trimmed up and going WOT?
I went from a 3 blade to a 4 blade and my take off is 100 times better.

Not sure on the top end RPM’s as it has been too rough each time out thus far to test it right. I think its about 6000 or just below though.

Never heard that or experienced it. They aren’t 2 stroke evinrudes but they aren’t gutless.

To the op…you sure it’s a prop issue? 3 guys, a full live well and full fuel is probably well over 1000 pounds of weight. You aren’t going to get a hole shot like you do when alone in the boat.

I run a 3 Blade 20p x 15.25″ Saltwater 2 on my 250 SHO and my boat weighs around 800lbs less. I would be very surprised if you can pull close to 6k rpms as fully loaded as you described with your setup. The SHO motors are surely not slow, the standard grey Yamahas are typically slow for their HP though from what I here.

Check Ranger Facebook forum as Yamaha and a 620 is not a common set up during that period but a few guys I am sure have chimed in there about it.

Yeah. I will stick with my Yamaha. Haters gonna hate.
I expect it to be a dog loaded but when I have to tell someone to go to the front to pop it up. No way that is correct. I’m sure the original owner kept the prop that was best for his new rig, so I have to replace it.
Keep the reply’s coming. Have to get as much info as possible.
Facebook forum has provided some input as well, but the majority of people have said a 4 blade in either a 19 or 20 pitch seems to be popular.

The Rev 4 prop will give you better hole shot and prob better speed at WOT. I’d start with a 19P. My buddy just re-powered his older 620 with a 250 SHO and this was the best prop/pitch of the several he tried. I’m running one on my 621/250 SHO and its been great.

Different boat, but I used to have 186 glass Lund with a 175 Verado.

It came with a 3 blade 19 pitch and was fine with a light load but a dog out of the hole loaded down.

I put a 17 pitch Rev 4 on and it and it became a completely different boat, literally night and day different waytogo

I lost a few miles an hour on the top end (didn’t care) and it would jump out of the hole fully loaded like nobody’s business.

Just be mindful of your RPM’s with a light load if running wide open.

A friend of mine is running a 2010 620 with a 2022 Yamaha SHO 225 motor. He is running a Mercury Tempest + 19p prop on it and it performs really well for him. I think he is running low to mid 50’s and the holeshot is good. I am running the same prop on my 621, but with a 350 Verado, and it has been great for me as well. Light load I see 60mph, and tournament load I see 55-56mph.
