Prop for a Spirit Outboard

The prop on my neighbors 20 HP Spirit Outboard broke. The prop shop can’t fix it. He has tried calling a few local marinas with no luck. Tried Twin Cities outboard and they don’t have one. He’s a retired a Vietnam Vet living on a fixed income and can’t afford to replace the motor. If anyone has a suggestion on where we might find him a prop it would be greatly appreciated. The prop is a 9/4×9.

    Thanks,

Spirit was made by Suzuki. So you may be able to find one under the Suzuki name.

Agree. Check for Suzuki in a similar year. I’m not sure Spirit and Suzuki branded outboards of that size were ever sold in the US simultaneously, so you may have to search years of Suzuki that are later than the Spirit and hope you can find a fit.

It may help to do some research and see where the “break point” is where they dropped the Spirit brand and just used Suzuki.

Do you know how many splines the hub has?

I see a couple online that I suspect might fit if you’re not too fussy about pitch. I think the key is confirming the shaft size, spline count, and then buy from a place where you can return it if it doesn’t fit.
