Some day you will need to explain that to me. It’s not football season nor have they started yet.

There isn’t one person on this board who at the players age (all sports) making the money they make would act any differently. My gosh, I can only imagine what some people on this board would be like with $20 million in their pockets.

I’d take my $20 million and use it to feed the starving walleyes of Mille lacs…

Haha. The question is, what would you feed them? Gobies, perch, tulibees, or walleye fry? waytogo

The question was which league should have never restarted because the seasons would normally be over. Now we have baseball flailing and Football getting off to rocky start.

I did not think sports in a bubble would fly, but that plan may be working.

That’s all it is, nothing more than that

Baseball is not flailing. Ratings are way up and the games have been great. You have one team with some positive cases and you call that flailing? We have enough doom and gloomers on this site right now…..

OK Call it floundering; 60 game season with one team on the brink of collapse. All it will take is the next team to have that many confirmed cases and the season falls like dominos.

It seems that the leagues that have decided to shelter in place or the Sports Bubbles have a better chance to finish their seasons.

I thought it would be the complete opposite.

    That’s all,no malice

Assuming it doesn’t spread to the Phillies they are just going to need to adjust. Hopefully the other team’s learn that they are going to have to create a bubble around their players even more and the players learn that if they aren’t careful away from the team their season won’t happen

I wouldn’t say its flailing. I would say that its not far off from a collapse though. The fact is that its simply not as safe as the other leagues that are playing at one location without travel. You can’t deny that and neither will the MLB. It appears that its basically isolated to one team for now but this problem isn’t going away anytime soon. I could see the commissioner shutting it down if it happens to multiple teams at the same time.

Agreed. That would be the final nail in Rob Manfred’s coffin I would guess. He was in trouble after how he handled the Astros nonsense

I don’t think it’s any more dangerous than the bubble leagues. All it takes is one person to break the rules, which we’ve already seen happen, bring the virus into the bubble and then poof, season over. They all have a good chance of failing. I just hope they don’t. I don’t understand why people here are hoping they do. Are you not happy they are coming back? Let the rest of us enjoy the fact that we finally have something else to watch and talk about.

Different approaches, different risks. Bubble leagues less likely to have the virus get in but more likely to have a widespread outbreak of it does. Non-bubble leagues more likely to have cases but less likely to have it spread throughout the league if it does.

I’m now reading that several Marlin players violated the league policy and went “out on the town” while they were in Atlanta playing a couple of exhibition games the week before.

These leagues won’t get their games in if players don’t follow the rules…

When any politician, athlete or celebrity gets the virus I hope the contact tracing is reported out on how they got it. It will let others know how easy it is to get if you don’t follow the guidance.

I have lost all interest in televised sports over the past few years. No need to worry about what a bunch of overpaid children can do with a ball. And now that they are being politicized they are pushing me even further away.

This… time for everyone to walk away. We are the viewing dollar that keeps these leagues going and if that stops… we’d all be better off IMO ~

You mean except for all the people that work for the teams and work for the stadiums and work in sports media and work in sports gambling or the fantasy sports world. Oh and all the jobs created by the merchandising etc for all those teams. Except for all those people…..

HIPAA SHMIPAA. Kind of fun to say. HIPAA SHMIPAA. Just rolls off the tongue.

I knew I was going to get that comeback. I take HIPAA training every year for my job.

Maybe I should rephrase my statement. I just heard on the radio about the bars/restaurants having certain drinking areas shutdown. The report said 360 Covid-19 cases have been traced to bars/restaurants. Maybe pro sports could summarize weekly cases in general terms and not violate an HIPAA rules. Although most likely the new cases are because somebody didn’t follow the policies in place.

Watched the end of the Pittsburg
Hockey game, the NHL seems to have a program for the remaining season.
Hope the NBA does just as well with the program they have planed.
Setting a good example for the baseball and football leagues.

Don’t forget the sportsbars and all those employees! What they putting on the TV’s? Discovery channel? Disney channel? Bars have been hit hard enough, may as well close em up for good.

So far the bubble format has shown to be vastly superior than baseballs model. Several teams have infections in baseball and there aren’t any in the NBA or NHL that I’m aware of.

Of course, the players have to actually follow the rules too.

Has the NHL climbed in bed with the anti-american Marxist organizations like the other sports have?

Yes, the NHL has decided to embrace the political ideology of Karl Marx. Didn’t you see the announcement?
