Problems with Dynamic Range

I downloaded the new firmware version 5.10 and when I hole hop in the Dynamic mode, the screen will lock up or skip around. I find this very frustrating since this is the most useful mode when checking a wide variety of depths. Has anybody else experienced this and maybe found what to do to fix this issue? Any helpful ideas would be great. Thanks.

    Ray,

I have a 7 and haven’t specifically had that problem, but I also only use manual range modes. It’s a little slower but I feel if I have a manual or manual dynamic mode on the machine “locks in” quicker and more accurately. If I encountered a depth either real shallow so I’m not using much of the screen or too deep I can’t find bottom its a quick fix with a couple pushes of a button. I guess it’s not ideal, but my two cents. Good luck!

I have the LX9 and noticed it freezes also for just seconds. It was just back to Marcum for other issues and must not have been checked. I switched to automatic mode and works fine there.

LX7’s are @ $700 I just expect them to work after having it for three years now and three firmwares later without any flaws. Lets get with the program and get these problems worked out so screens don’t freeze up and shallow water fishing screens don’t jump from six feet to twelve feet like mine does. THERE ARE NO GOOD EXCUSES FOR THESE PROBLEMS, GET IT DONE RIGHT!!!!

Use manual dynamic instead. That’s the simple fix to this issue. I’ve found that the dynamic mode works pretty well in open water but for ice fishing it was as you described. No biggie…stick with manual dynamic.

My issue using dynamic while ice fishing was that the thing is so sensitive that when I’d be fishing suspended crappies or perch I’d have a school come through higher in the water column and it would read that tightly packed school as the bottom.

You shouldn’t have to use manual dynamic. As ray said it should just work.. I am leaning towards selling my 7 for vex. I am also worried about the lx7 handling riding in a storage box on the back of my snowmobile when the ice is rough.

I had that problem before the update, but since I installed the update it has worked great.

Try reloading the update….if that doesn’t work call Marcum….they will send a copy of the old version…..

I have a lx6 and use manual dynamic mode. I have tried to use auto mode and it doesn’t seem to work. Usually when I find fish I use the vertical zoom in that depth of the water column and the rest is a side note. I can’t complain about my unit. It’s been working great for me.

I wonder if it’s possible to go back to original version. I am really unsatisfied since I started the updates. I have this problem and also have problem with bottom jumping around, very hard on my eyes.
