One of my buddies is having fits with his Trollmaster. The servo is spinning 360 degrees even when the control box isn’t turned on. We both thought that the power went to the control box and then to the servo and can’t figure out how the servo is getting power.

There should be three wires to the servo. Ground, Positive, and signal. I’m not sure if those are 6v or 12 volt servos I’m sure it says on the servo. The rotation is determined by the signal wire which should be orange. The position is determined by pulse width modulation. It might be possible that the switch is shorted close and the power is always on. When it is spinning are you using the vhf radio? The radio can interfere with the servo and change the position of the servo. I’m not an expert on this maybe if you could give us a little more info.

Had a trollmaster dial about 3 years ago, worked great, last year with new boat, went with their wireless one, its a real POS. Within the first week, it took over my boat, started being real eratic, then had a mind of its own. It was giving me so much trouble, went to full throttle on its own, that I turned it off, and threw it in the glove box, and just used the normal throttle controll with the boat. After about 3 hours of trolling with the boats standard throttle lever, the throttle went to full throttle on its own, with the trollmaster controlling it. Keep in mind it had been turned off over 3 hrs. I couldn’t pull the throttle lever back, as the trollmaster was trying to keep it at full throttle. I had to get the hand unit out and turn it on, to turn it off. Called trollmaster, and they said to not use my boat till it was fixed. They sent a whole new system, and I assume it had a different frequency to eliminate interference. New one worked ok for a month or so, then really started becoming erratic again. Put up with it till about a month ago, when i had a week long salmon tmt, and had it repaired again for that. I’ve used it for about 7 days now, and its failing again. Their wireless unit is garbage. Two of my friends, have also had nothing but problems with their wireless unit. This winter I am switching over to Itroll, as I have herd nothing but good with their unit.

Does anyone have a troll master on their Suzuki 9.9 EFI ? Mines a 2020 model. The cable they give you for the engine kit is so long it takes me 34 clicks to get it to move the throttle..

My trollmaster 2 unit works okay but the dial is very touchy. Much more so than the last unit I had, in that the first unit you had to turn the dial more to increase or decrease speed. The newer one you barely turn to increase. Biggest problem now is it will randomly increase or decrease when it is set between 30-50. I called and emailed and did get a response in about a week asking if the unit was still under warranty. I said it wasn’t and asked if it could be repaired , and if it can’t be repaired, could I just replace the controller because I have two servos already. After they were told by email it wasn’t under warranty I never heard back from them. It isn’t a bad product at least the trollmaster 2 isn’t a bad product, but their customer service is crap. I don’t think I would buy another.
