Problem with my 2004 Polaris Sportsman 700

I accidentally left my key on my Polaris 700 & I went to use it the other day & it was completely dead. I charged the battery & hooked everything back up. I am getting power to my lights, but it won’t crank over. It makes a clicking sound like I either shorted something out or something. Had anyone had this problem before? Please help!

Doesn’t take much to power a light. My guess is your battery is toast. Get a new one.

I understand that, what I should of explained more is I had the cables hooked up to another battery & it was still doing the same thing. It acted like it wanted to start by making the ‘clicking’ noise & tried to fire up, but then it shut everything off.

If your battery is shorted out, hooking to another battery in most instances it still won’t start. Try unhooking the positive cable from the batt and hook that to the other batt. Then hook the neg from the other batt to the neg on the batt in the ATV. It should start. The clicking you hear is the solenoid pulling in. But there isn’t enough in the battery to crank it over. Be careful not to hook a battery charger on high boost to it. The electronics won’t like that.
