Has anyone ever had any experience Pro-Tech Marine in Albertville. His web site says he has been repairing outboard motors for forty years. I have a 2001 Johnson 115 HP motor that has low compression in one cylinder and believe I snapped some rings on a piston and am looking for a good reputable mechanic in NW metro.

I talked to them last fall when I had a cylinder go on my old Yamaha. They quoted me a price for a motor they had then when I tried to setup a time they told me they wanted $1000 more then what what they quoted me plus my old motor. Which was never part of the deal to begin with. Needless to say I went elsewhere.

I brought a running motor to them to have them figure out why it was making some odd the noises now and then. They called a few days later and said it was piston slap and what did I want to d,rebuild it?I said no and asked how much I owed them and I would come and get it.Went and got it and a few days later went to use it and no compresssion. They took off the head and never bothered to put it back on.It ran fine when I brought it to them,I didnt expect it back in non running condition. They were a-holes about it on the phone when i called them, they told me a half hour labor to put it back on.I did it myself.

Wow! By those reviews I would stay far far away from that place. Sad to hear a business can stay running after treating so many customers poorly.
