I have a 2018 1775 pro guide with 90hp merc, I’m running a spitfire x7 stainless 13pitch prop. I get 35mph at 6k rpm. I run a med load of equipment. 36v ulterra. what kind of numbers could I expect going with a 15pitch. my 13 pitch has an unbelievable hole shot and gets on plane super fast. your thoughts. thanks

I had a 2016 1775 Pro Guide, fantastic boat. Came standard with a spitfire 17″ pitch aluminum prop. If I remember right it was 5350 rpm at about 38mph. Switched to a Spitfire X7 stainless 17″, and was able to move the engine up one hole. Rpm’s about 5500 and speed about 42 mph. If I were to do it again, I would go with a Spitfire X7 in 15″ pitch, and leave the engine at it’s standard height of one hole showing on top, as I picked up a little steering torque after moving higher one hole. Sold it to a member on here, as I really didn’t need two boats at the time, and wanted to get my truck back in the garage. Are you sure you have a 13″ pitch prop, and not 13″ diameter? 13″ pitch would be way under pitched. 15″ would be fine and put your rpm at about 5800. My actual speed and setup has been posted over on walleye central. Look it up for actual #’s. Take off was instant, even with the 17″ pitch, 15″ X7 would be a fantastic prop for that boat, 13″ is too little.

It looks like you’re achieving max Rpms, 15 should get ya more top end but less holeshot.

I don’t like being a slug out the hole. More pitch will also make you go slightly faster at idle, at least for my boat. Maybe a consideration for a tiller.

for your gearcase, the 15″ pitch x7 only comes in a 13.5″ diameter.

ok now I’m confused, my prop says 14×13 spitfire x7 and has those vent holes with the plugs in it. I thought I had the command thrust gearbox, but it doesn’t have the ct emblem on the back of the motor cowl.

Prop diameters change somewhat with pitch. Looks like the 15″ Spitfire X7 is listed as being 13.5″ diameter. It’s Jaco’s not Jacobs, I think they are in Tennessee, or some place down there. When I bought mine, it was $399, no tax and free ship. Prices have went up

You’re not crazy, your 13″ pitch x7 is listed as 14″ diameter. The 15″ pitch like I showed about is listed as 13.5″ diameter. Like mentioned above, diameters tend to change slightly with pitch.

Spitfire X7 is only available for the standard gearcase 75-115, so if that’s what you’re currently running for a prop model you have a standard gearcase.

That white wear ring is a maintenance item. FYI, if you ever notice a sudden cavitation issue you know it’s time to replace it as well.

that’s what I read, mine wasn’t to that point yet, I just noticed it sticking out of the gear housing 1/8 inch and it wouldn’t clip in, the 4 prongs were still there, just think they was getting weak and not staying clipped in.

The prop vent plugs are for a 2 stroke engine allowing the prop to slip in the water to get the RPM’s up quicker with the exhaust gases flowing through. They work like a stall converter in an automatic transmission. They do nothing for a 4 stroke motor.

Jaco’s are great people. I have bought 3 stainless props from them, one Spitfire, and two Bravo’s.

ok update time, got my prop changed today to a 15pitch x7 spitfire, big difference max rpm is 5950 or so, top end is about 38mph in the wind, got considerable bow lift, spray off bottom of boat comes out next to drivers seat. so its riding higher. handles good and still pops right up on plane. thanks for help.
