I wish I had a report to share. I didn’t get a tag this year – hopefully next year I’ll draw one. We’ve got a couple nuisance bears where we deer hunt
August 29, 2023 at 3:08 pm #2221429I have a couple buddies baiting. One is in no quota area and the other in area 51. Neither are having much luck. Baits in the no quota have been hit once each but no bear has returned.
The baits in area 51 have yet to be touched in nearly 2 weeks. That area has been good to us historically too, I’ve killed multiple bears from that bait site over the years. Lots of berries and acorns in the woods right now.August 29, 2023 at 11:53 pm #2221484I just had a random bear come in this evening. Other then that 0.
He came in and spooked the does away.
I tried adding the pics in order by time. But that did not workAttachments:

September 23, 2023 at 9:46 am #2225657This guy has been a overy or every other day visitor now. Not sure what’s keeping him around. The berries in the field are gone, unless he is living in the swamp

Nice FellaPosts: 457September 23, 2023 at 3:39 pm #2225700That’s a big bear pop. If I was getting day time pics I would maybe target this guy. Next year I will buy a tag. No quota here.
September 23, 2023 at 5:21 pm #2225707One of the biggest ones is a Sow with 2 pretty fat cubs. Quite the population around us cause I’ve seen multiple Sows with cubs most years.
Cubs were about a minute behind Mama.

September 23, 2023 at 5:23 pm #2225709Very top pick on the first post is a large Boar with a bad right rear. He drags it allot and it’s easy to spot his tracks in the woods.
LabDaddy1Posts: 2430November 6, 2023 at 12:06 am #2234363It’s crazy how well black bears can stay out of (plain) human sight with how big they are and how active they are and need to be. Such majestic creatures.
November 7, 2023 at 10:01 pm #2234648No doubt Labdaddy! Every time I walk through the woods I feel like there’s a bear watching me!
Son and I hunted a ground blind last week on Thursday night. Bear tracks by it on Friday morning. We sat in it again Friday night. Bear tracks around it and just inside the door on Saturday morning. Like it was just checking on us!

Well the group I was going with all harvested deer, including 3 nice bucks and 1 absolute trophy buck. All 6 of those guys said they seen deer all day all 3 days. But they did also see wolves and bear. I don’t think there are so few deer. I think it may be the hunter. The numbers from ripley were pretty solid.
