The last 12 hours out in SD have been pretty good even with the high winds. Had a great encounter with my #1 hitlist buck. He just missed me by about two hundred yards. Ended up passing a 3.5 year 4×4 at 18 yards and a small spike even closer. Saw 10 does at different times. I thought they were all going to miss me. The last 30 minutes the wind started lay down. About then 6 does came from the west and circled downwind of me. The Ozonics and Nose Jammer did the job. The old girl in front knew something was up but eventually she decided to come in. She was quartering harder than I thought but the shot was true and she tipped over 70 yards from my stand. Feels good to have some venison on the meat pole.

This AM I decided to try my luck at the coyotes I’ve been hearing and seeing from the stand. I did two sets of fawn distress and nothing so I kicked on the pup serenade. This fired them up. I had dogs barking all around me. I couldn’t see them but I knew they were close so I switched to pup distress. This really fired up the barking to the east of me. I still couldn’t find the dog though. I checked back to north and sure enough there danced a yote. Standing on her back legs bouncing around looking for the wounded pup. I guessed it at 200, settled and squeezed. My shot was not perfect, I was high 2 inches and to right 3. However it was still a lethal shot.

So, the last 12 hours have been fun. One more sit tonight for the big boy.

Sweet story. And congrats on the kills. Looking forward to seeing some buck pics tonight.
