Prescott/Hastings Ice – St. Croix River

Has anyone got any updates as to what the ice looks like in this area right now?

All I can tell you is that people have been fishing at Prescott for awhile, I’m not sure how the bite is

I always liked the idea of fishing there but never do well. Im sure it happens but I have fished it about 3 times in 15 years. Caught one sauger. Takes me about 5 years to get up the ambition to hit it again.

So all winter I took my boat on the Croix and looked for fish in the open water, I marked basically zero fish all winter and even now.

So, those hugging the open water, did you ever catch anything?

Only fished it once and found one mudpuppy and a small sauger. I think those fishing sturgeon and hugging the open water had more luck.

Odd thing is that as the ice receded or reformed making the open water bigger or smaller still no fish… And I know a thing or two about marking sturgeon to know it was never worth wetting a line.
