When is it? I thought it was end of February beginning of March, but now I am questioning myself.

Around here is typical for mid Feb. But like any animals, they don’t all go into heat the same time – mid Jan to early march is common

I sure wouldn’t want to be the stud male out on a day like today

I was seeing blood spots on coyote trails 2 weeks ago, so as with the rut, there must be a lot of variation in it.

So what does the breeding season do to the hunting?

I haven’t noticed a big difference, I just use different calls, ie:mating calls

For those coyotes that read the book and do what they are suppose to The females will be more aggressive to come into distressed puppy or most variations of pup sounds. The males will cover ground looking for a female in heat. lessor males will also be chased around like small bucks. But in general, they tend to respond better to vocals than food source
