We’ve taken a few while goose hunting with BB at 40+ yrds. I shoot a 870 3″ wingmaster

I’m not overly interested in what happens to the pelt as far as price goes so I’m shoot 00 buck in 3″. I have not tested them yet, but expect to be able to kill into the 60 yard range. I’m hoping to test this weekend if I can get up north to verify at the “range”.

Tapout, You really nailed it about the responses. Most guys using shotguns are just geared up for those super close encounters. To me, if a coyote at 60 yrds, I have plenty of field of view to hammer them with my rifle. Its the few times that they jump out at 15-20 yrds that the shotgun is well suited. Also, you have the pelt damage factor. I pelt out nearly every coyote we take, so I’m not a fan of 20 holes. Others are not harvesting for the pelt, so they don’t care if they have 50 holes. Similar to turkey hunting, just need to get a heavy load patterned so you know your max distance
