Went out for a quick set before dark last night and set up on one of my favorite spots. The wind was right and I had plenty of time to go through a good sequence. After my last series I picked up motion to my left on the edge of an open field… sure enough, a pair was working their way in from downwind. I gave them a few lipsqueaks and set up for the shot. One of the pair was about 10 yds from the edge of the woods, with the other about 15 yds to the left of it. My plan was to whack the one closest to the woods and hopefully get a crack at the 2nd. As I was making my game plan the coyote closest to the woods stopped at about 110 yds and I let one fly… whop!… dropped it on the spot. I immediately turned on the 2nd coyote that was flying across the open field, swung through it and squeezed… whop!… cartwheeled him. I couldn’t believe it, I finally dropped my first double. The pic is a little ratty, but I only had my cell phone with to record the action. Still lovin’ the 6×45… the thing just hammers coyotes.
