We had problems on and off all winter with our tilt and trim. It wouldn’t want to work till you played with the switch and then it would finally work. This Spring the motor wouldn’t start after a day of running the electronics. I replaced the starter battery and have had NO tilt/trim issues since. All winter I thought it was my tilt/trim going and it sure looks like it was just my starting battery getting weak. I would think your battery needing a charge could cause the problem you saw.

Having had tilt problems…. I’d check fluid levels and your ground as a couple things to do first.
