Well now that the snow is gone I just thought I would share how disappointed I am with our predator hunting this winter. We hunted our off and only had one grey fox to show for it. Several times we called an animal in and just wern’t able to seal the deal, from setting up wrong to thick brush and to missed shots. But what can you do, thats hunting. We definately called in more this season than any other and learned a lot of very valuable lessons that will most certainly help next year. I’m hoping to still get out this year but had a question for all of you. How many of youguys hunt through the spring and year round? Any pros/cons to this?

The picture is of walleyefisher with the only kill of the year, A beautiful grey that came into 15 yards. Way to go bud, at least you hit what your aiming at.

Some years go that way… the main thing is that you learned some things. I figure that if I’m getting animals to respond and I’m learning, I’m headed in the right direction. I had a great season with a lot of responses, quite a few kills, but more misses than I would like. My goal for next year is to cut down on the misses and up the kill ratio .

The thing that I have to keep reminding myself is that no matter how many scenarios that I play through in my head before I start up a set, those buggers will throw a curve at me that makes me think a bit I guess that’s why I enjoy it so much, no two sets are the same and the critters will always come up with a way to surprise you… the main thing in my opinion is to keep it fun

My son is just finishing up his Hunter’s Safety this week so I plan on getting him out to try to get him his first ‘yote this spring. Good luck out there…

Great post Hunter_Dan! Kudos to you for creating a post to talk about your “not so successful season”. Well – you did better than me! I didn’t even get out this year and try. What a shame!

I agree with Jeff above – try to keep it fun and always expect the unexpected.
