I shot this one a few weekends ago and I’m finally getting around to posting a picture. I missed the female and shot this guy right on her heels. He weighed 36 pounds on the scale. Does anyone else weigh all there coyotes?
This has been a really weird year for me. Getting permission is still not a problem, but number of hunters is really going up. I’m seeing a lot of people running with dogs also. Is a coyotes behavior towards calls (distress or howl) effected if they are ran alot with dogs?

jigger, regarding your question about calling in areas that are hunted by guys using dogs to run the coyotes. I used to coyote hunt quite a bit and hunted a piece of ground frequently. When I obtained permission the farmer told me a a local guy ran his coyote dogs there 4 times a week. I would either howl for them or use distress sounds. It was one of my money holes. Do not be afraid to call there, it should still be effective. I did not even notice the coyotes to be more cautious than at other places I hunted where the coyotes did not get run by dogs.

This one was scun out and will be tanned. The 204 did basically no damage to the pelt. The rest are skinned and will be sold to a local fur buyer. All my fox will be tanned and kept. That being said, I’ve only got one fox so far this year.

what kind of price are you getting for the yotes. most of our buyers closed shop because of the prices. Trappers in the area are aren’t bothering to do anything with them neither am I. That’s too bad that you can’t even get 10 bucks plus the hides this year have been great. We pass on all foxes.

$8 for one was the most I got out of the first group. Needless to say I won’t be wasting my gas money again. The cash I got just covered the gas down and back and a 30 pack of Old Mil Light!
