Have you see coyotes in your deer stand or turkey hunting?

It just seems there are a few more around than years past.
Maybe I am noticing them more I don’t know.

    Give me some thoughts.

    Thanks

Well at the rate that guys on the this sight are wacking them. I’d have to say the #’s are up. Or maybe hunters are just getting better at hunting them.

I know a large group of hunters in southwest WI that hunt coyotes with dogs. Over the last 10 years they’ve averaged between 100-200 coyote kills in an area only covering about 10 square miles.

While checking cams today I noticed ALOT of yote tracks. Getting the itch to go out but worried about bumping a couple nice bucks which are hanging around. Yotes are showing up regularly the past 2 weeks on my cams

You should add the question ” have you had coyotes eat a bow killed deer that you had to leave overnight before recovering”.

I’ve lost two in the past few years. I won’t leave another one overnight. I keep a spotlight in the truck to track with. Its unbelievable how fast they can absolutely destroy a deer. The last one was shot at 4:30pm and recovered at 7:30am and it looked like a winterkilled deer. Both back legs were stripped and one front leg was completely missing.

I’m a part time trapper and guide. Between trapping and guiding I kill about 50 coyotes every year. Their habits change slightly and the lucky ones get very educated. But I don’t see much of a variance in my numbers. I do see a large swing in the nuber of fox. When I take out an alpha [censored], fox will move into the area pretyy quick. As soon as another dominate female coyote is back in the area…say good bye to the reds!

Plus, I run into more guys out calling now in the last 2 years than ever before. Last weekend, two of hit a lot of land near his house in Jefferson county, WI. Seemed as if we were running into predator hunters about every 5 miles down the road. 1st set in the morning I could hear someone calling with an ecaller just a 1/2 mile away Doesn’t do any of us any good to over-call them. But the bottomline is there are more predator hunters emerging every year. I know I teach about 8 to 10 of them a year to hunt and 1 to 3 a year to trap them.
