those are some beautiful grays… probably my favorite critter. I was following a blood trail a few years ago and caught motion in the halo of my light, started to lipsqueak and ended up calling in a gray to within 6-7 yds of me. They are some bold critters…

Cool. Are they “endangered”? We only had red’s in SD, but the coyotes have thinned them out so badly, you rarely hear of anyone seeing one anymore.

Great picture Gut! About 2 years ago I was hunting turkeys in WI. It was the last night of that particular season so I set my father-in-law up in a favorite roosting spot next to a deadfall and we decided to go for broke. Not an ideal way to kill a tom but it was worth a try. I was doing some very soft calling and right before dark we heard some leaves rustling getting closer and closer to us. After about 15 minutes of this, it was slowly coming into our set up. It’s now dark and all of a sudden a gray fox appeared a mere 10 yards below us. 2 seconds later another gray appeared about 5 yards above us. They were circling in for the kill! I’m not sure who was more surprised – the gray foxes or us! We still laugh about that one.

Sweet pic Gut! They are more likely to pee on your sheds than anything else….although I have found a fair amount of sheds with K9 bite marks in them. Thinking about it now they will probably chew up your sheds and then Pee on them
