Another great show, but I do have a question. Why does Scott always mark the area on the sled and James does all the drilling?

‘Cuz last year he got stuck doing all the drill work.

I wish I had a more colorful story for you but really it came down to it was my turn.

Was sitting on my deck about 8pm tonight, about to crack a bottle of homemade wine with the wife, watching the wildlife in the backyard…. Watched a few deer eating under an apple tree and in my foodplot (the small part I can see from the house anyway). A few minutes later, watched a real pretty coyote walk in and start eating apples under the same tree. Could see a doe in my food plot about the same time (about 100 yards away from each other, ~ 200 yards from me). Thought about getting the .243, but hesitated for a few minutes… Neighbors (a ways away and through trees in a different direction) were outside (could hear them).. Even though the shot was no where near the neighbors, I didn’t want to disturb their evening…… Until I heard them shooting a .22.. then I raced downstairs to get the gun out of the safe… By the time I got back up, it was too late… Yote gone, too late, game over.

Oh well, fun to watch anyway.

    “Next time” was this am!!

Got up a little after 6am to do some running.. Saw him eating apples again under the same tree.

Long story short, 175 yards and on 85 grain bullet later, he was down.

That got the blood going this am!

Saw another one out there this am. He just watched me while I mowed the lawn, then went back to hunting mice in the ditches.

    His time might be limited….

I bought the .243 Remington SPS Varmint / Leupold VX-III new last year at Cabelas… That coyote was the first thing its killed so far to date, besides paper. Couldn’t be happier with its preformance!!! First time I’ve had it out at the range, I “managed” (lets face it, there could have been some luck involved) a 2.5″ 3 shot group at 400 yards. With the Boone and Crocket reticle, I was only a few inches low, too, which I should be able to adjust/get zeroed once I shoot some more on a calm day..

    Sweet!

Looked that way… I threw the carcass out behind the house… Checked it last night, it was mostly eaten. Neighbor had some muddy bear tracks across his driveway from Sunday am… Not sure if it was bears or yote’s that would be eating the carcass..??

I’m shocked when maggets eat a yote carcass Even the ravens around my farm don’t touch them.

Funny though, a deer will be in alarm mode when a coyote is bedded down in a field 200 yrds away. When a coyote is dead, a deer will just step over it and walk on?????
