The Breakfast Club…

Last night, I decided that I had better head up to my father in-laws land to grab some wood for the fireplace. I figured as long as I was going I’d throw in the gun and calls and try some morning sets.

The first set was dry so I packed up and headed for some new ground. I hadn’t been calling for more than 5 minutes when a ‘yote popped up on the knoll to my west at about 210 yds. I put the crosshairs on him and did some lipsqueaks to get him started my way. It was awesome watching him trot straight at me looking for a snack. At around 100 yds I barked him to a stop and stoned him… didn’t even twitch.

Figuring he might have a partner I hit some kiyis and went back to the distress. About 3-4 minutes later a red fox popped out of the woods about 175 yds to my south! Unfortunately, fox season is closed so all I could do was watch him in the scope. They sure are beautiful critters. All in all a great morning to be out…

I went out last night and my brother had a chance at one and for some reason his safety was stuck. He had to put the gun down to push the safety and then when he brought it back up the coyote was gone. We were sitting apart and I just couldn’t see it on was on the edge of the field and he was just inside the woods overlooking the river bank. It ran the ridge and then down the bank on the river bottom and then poof gone. 60 yards away I could hear it but no luck seeing it.

I am on the relentless pursuit to get my first yote.

    Nice work!

Nice job on the yote. I was shed hunting yesterday and saw 3 in a field. They wer in a perfect V formation. Not sure what they were after, but it was quite a sight.

    Nicely Done!

Love the pics, especially the one with showing the Yotes foot prints coming all the way in until the moment of truth.

I’m with Lip. Looking at the tracks and the crumbles of snow in front of them, I can easily imagine him slowing as quick as he can, stopping, and getting thumped. It’ll make me think of how to take pics on Sat. if all goes well.

    Congrats.
