Just letting you know you need a permit from the DNR to use an E-caller for coyotes.
Not kidding here guys on a Predator site that I belong to we have come across a problem with the remote (radio) controlled E-callers. The law that prohibits us from using cell phones and two-way radios for hunt stops us from using remote control E-callers.
There seems to be a bit of confusion on this even among the conservation officers. We have talked the the Minnesota DNR commissioner about it and you have to have a permit for the use of an E-caller. The same group of guys that worked to get the light law passed last year will be working to change this law also. We do not want to make it legal to use radios or phones just E-callers.
Here is the way it all started.
Are remote callers illegal in MN?

And here is where we are now.
    Minnesota e-caller law change approach

If you have any questions on this PM me and I will try to help you.

Yep, it is true. I have been following this for awhile as well. MN has just a few too many laws regarding predators and furbearers I am glad I live on this side of the river

As a “non-resident disinterested” person, I read the posts from “Foxpro” quoting the laws on using radios in Mn.. It would seem to me that the way the laws read it would be unlawful to use a shock collar on a bird dog too. That is radio controlled and one way also. Any comments?

Well a law is a law but I dont think to many C.O.s would push it to hard. On the other hand I would not give them any reason. We tend to travel a bit hunting and I dont now the C.O.s in some of the areas we go.
