Good luck on the hunt
Where are you planning on hunting? I usually wait until it gets cold out and then try to get them. WIth the temps the last few days it sure feels like hunting weatherSeptember 11, 2006 at 1:30 pm #477316Good luck on the hunt

I in no way meant that you should wait until it gets cold out to hunt When I did predator control for ranchers out west, anytime was a good time to kill coyotes
But, now I pretty much hunt for the hides and the thrill of the chase, I myself wait until a little later
Make sure to take a camera along and post up some pics of the coyotes you guys shootSeptember 11, 2006 at 11:05 pm #477563My reply might have been taken the wrong way

September 18, 2006 at 12:40 am #20796Well we were able to get out for one stand lastnight. We sat in a field about 240 ac. hay feild. We have seen yotes across the road and the land owner hears them at night. We set up in about the middle of the field. on a hill we could see it all. We had about 12-16 deer around us in all directions. We hit the rabbit in distress call and waited. hit it a bit more. We saw nothing heard nothing other then scaring some deer away. We left the area in and out with as little sound as possible.
Maybe next time. But we are just getting started on this. We will be heading up after deer season, the area is just to good to let it sit all year. Hope to be posting one day some photos of a nice clean kill.September 18, 2006 at 12:40 am #479796Well we were able to get out for one stand lastnight. We sat in a field about 240 ac. hay feild. One thing to keep in mind this time of year. Coyotes and other predators are not lacking food right now. It will get better once the weather turns colder and if we are lucky, we get some good snow. When that happens, coyotes will need more food to survive, but the food supply gets limited and is harder to find. Now, that does not mean they will not respond to calls all year, but, anytime you can tip the odds in your favor, it is a good thing.
The big question is, did you have fun trying even though you didn’t see any coyotes?September 18, 2006 at 12:52 am #479803Definitely try again when you get the chance I have had the same reaction on many stands across the country.
