The weather finally warmed up and the coons are on the move. Some of my favorite place to trap are tile drains. This set has taken 3 coons in 3 days but this one was by far the largest.

Way to go, Dave. Man, does that bring back memories of my youth. Unfortunately I am a city boy now.

December 27, 2005 at 8:52 pm #13482Thanks Putz, There are lots of varmints in the city that could keep you busy I bet. But I hate trapping around pets. It takes awhile to catch the junk so you can get down to business on th coons.

December 31, 2005 at 3:48 pm #13559Hey spinner dave . Nice catch If you want to increase your catch and not have to worry about the unwanted catches look into the griz traps. If I ever buy another trap this would be it. I have 3 dozen of these and never have caught a dog. Cats on the other hand, yes . What’s nice about these, is you can stick them anywhere and catch coon. I had a lady that had a 2 coons that where feeding out of her cat dishs, so I planted to grizs next to her house. She had over 10 cats, so I baited it with half of a big marshmellow and peanut butter. She called me the next morning to tell me that I had both of them . Those to coon lead to permission to 2 other farmers in the area. This is just one web sight you can find them on http://www.snareshop.com, they are pricey, but well worth it.

January 2, 2006 at 3:45 pm #13564Thanks for the input TG. I am partial to the 220s because I usually check my traps in the evenings. I like my criters to be room temp when I get there. .Dogs are not a problem usually because I dont trap close to homes and hounds are too big to get in them if you spread your triggers well. Its the cats skunks and possums you have to clean out, dont think you can ever catch all the possums . I have used some if the traps like the griz with mixed results. I am sure these are better than the ones I have used.

January 9, 2006 at 11:26 pm #13920It’s been awhile since I’ve been trapping, but I want to get back into it. I’ve got a couple dozen traps from my grandpa and would like to start up again. How does a guy set up traps for critters like mink? Or how about coyotes?
