As I am sure many of you have seen the news about the MN born hockey player that was tragically killed yesterday in England, please take a moment and send out a prayer for his family. Adam Johnson was a stellar kid – best friend of my nephew and like extended family to us. He was at the family Christmas party and every other party we had since he was a little kid.
Reat in peace, Adam. We are sure gonna miss ya. The Christmas day boot hockey game wont ever be the same again.

Timmy so sorry for the loss! I heard about what happened and I just cannot even imagine the pain and the horror for all who witnessed. Rest easy Adam! I never knew him or met him but sounds like he was a great dude! Gone too soon!
I just heard on the radio that they arrested the player on manslaughter charges.

Yep, no one wins in cases like this. RIP Adam. The good thing about this whole thing is that many leagues will start offering and in some cases mandating protection. That warroad gear that TJ Oshie is involved with looks very nice and actually comfortable. I was cut by a skate in HS after a collision at center ice. Cut through my jersey and the bottom of my shoulder pads. I had no idea but my teammate says “Hey youre bleeding!” Sure enough. I can still feel the hollowed out edge of the cut to this day.
I heard Mark Parrish on KFAN say that the skater that was arrested has a few prior instances of doing this same type of stuff. High skate kicks to opposing players. Maybe never had the intent to seriously hurt anyone, but I watched the short clip and there was zero reason for it. If it’s true, he should be charged. Was definitely not a “freak accident”.
