I want to build a noodle rod for small jigging spoons or larger tungsten. I’ve handled the thorne bros power noodle and I like it but curious how it compares to other options like the basskhang, DH customs or TUC blanks. Any significant difference in action or power between the different options?

I have used a Thorne Bros Power Noodle for probably 10 years now. Absolutely love it. But it is going to be a little too light of a tip for spoons or larger tungsten. In my opinion anyway.

The T bros noodle is the OG, was the first real noodle tip blank. DH and TUCR both came out a few years later. THe DH blank is great, super stiff backbone with a soft tip. IF your looking for blanks, the BK noodle blank is the best bang for buck blank. I think they are currently $9 each and they are almost exactly the same as the Tbros and DH options.

Small spoons and large tungsten, I would go with the Della bay tip dip blank. Slightly stiffer, and more of a parabolic bend than a Noodle tip. But will handle those smaller spoons and 5mm tungsten really well.

Thorn Bros is way way way over priced on their ice blanks at $54, BK $9 power noodle or $16 V-Line Gurney Noodle are the 2 I would use.

For bigger tungsten jigs, you’ll need to go to solid carbon blank. 5mm tungsten size is max for my power noodles.

Store stock yes, Custom made you can take some off the tip and be able to go to a 5 or 6mm no problem.

I use Basskhang rod blanks. Nice color selection and very durable. They are located in Osseo, MN
